update

Went for a couple of classic Boulder road rides this weekend, Fruit Loops and the Morgul-Bismarck Loop. It was a bit too chilly to spend much time in the mountains on a road bike, but we (Spencer, Abby, and I) made it up to Eldora Sunday afternoon for a skate ski.

Yesterday I decided to mountain bike at Green Mountain despite an slowly intensifying snowstorm. It was very pretty--white sky, white snow, and yellow prairie grass--but I had a sketchy ride back to the trailhead after bailing onto some roads and getting lost. By the time I got back to my car it was dark (I didn't bring lights) and the snow was really starting to accumulate. I was relieved to be back safely, but even better was seeing a ginourmous buck just up the hill in front of my car! I don't know who was more surprised...

This weekend Spencer's off to Bend for Winter Tri Nationals. Wish him luck! A few friends and I are heading up to Leadville for the winter nighttime MTB race at Tennessee Pass Nordic Center. It's going to be nice weather for road riding in Denver, but methinks the fat tires and skinny skis are going to see most of the action!

I'll leave you with this picture of a dinner I made recently: truffled shitaake and pea risotto with almond lemon pesto, and rosemary kalamata foccacia, with Two Brothers' Domaine DuPage French Style Country Ale to drink. All vegan and all homemade (except the beer)...yum!
