wedding planning

Wedding planning is a shit ton of fun. Don't let those magazines convince you otherwise. You get to plan a huge party for all of the people you love, without worrying one bit about going overboard (a common party-planning concern of mine).

I didn't capture the moments from our planning very well, but I felt I needed to publish them in some form, since it was a pretty big part of the past year.

Starting from the top...

Spencer asked me to marry him last winter

We asked our closest friends and family to come party with us

We won an engagement photo session with the fabulous Darcy Kiefel  (Spencer ate the heart cookie I brought while I was distracted)

I went wedding dress shopping with my mom, and thanks to Anna Be, it wasn't as torturous as I expected.

I fell in love with...succulents, and we bought some to grow for our wedding centerpieces.

They grew on our porch all summer.

I drew us a family crest, since were were about to officially become a family and all.

We dined at Olivea and I fell in love with the craft paper tablecloths

Address stamp

Thank you cards, with photos I took at some botanic gardens in LA.

Address stamps made our lives so much easier

Paper goods in early summer

I couldn't believe how perfect these stamps were.

We ordered beautiful letterpress invitations from Bella Figura in Syracuse, NY.

Happy portulaca flowers in the summer.

Our neighbor Cindy has the coolest handwriting, so we asked her to address our invites.

Rehearsal dinner invites, made with Japanese paper tape

More succulents from Sturtz and Copeland's summer sale.

I found my shoes at Marshall's for $20.

I made a Churrolope stamp (Churro + jackalope)

We had our wedding bands made at Angie Star on Pearl Street.

Sturtz and Copeland made us more succulent centerpieces.

I made these horseshoe placeholders for us. Then my mom informed me that horseshoes have to be upside down to bring good luck. I changed them just in time for the wedding day.

These hurricanes with feathers were on the tables.

I gave my bridesmaids each copies of one of my favorites books about Colorado, "A Lady's Adventures in the Rocky Mountains." We also had our guests leave us notes on vintage Colorado postcards, which we later bound into a guestbook.

I made crepe paper flowers to hang at the entrance, but I heard they got soggy in the rain.

My bouquet

Centerpiece back at home after the wedding, since no one got photos of it on the big day!
